BUENAVENTURA

Last week Pekka (giugno 2004, ndr) and I went to Buenaventura to start preparing 
the spring meeting 2005.
It had been planned that Paul and Pekka should go but Paul was 
too busy so I
replaced him.

It was interesting and good, it will astonish noone of you to 
hear that they are wonderful hosts.

We met the mayor, to gain some support, Buena is still very 
much in its
beginnings as far as the contacts to the Cirt are concerned.

We scouted several locations for the meeting, Buena is too 
small to host us,
only workshops and evenings can be done there.

Have a look at my scheme, we made a concept. We found a very 
nice location
for the public day (Teatro Academico, see pic's) and a 
fantastic residence
where around 50-60 people can stay (Ca Amadeo), take a look at 
the pic's. We
will try to rent the whole place for 3 days so that we can 
bother noone.

We discussed the content of the meeting for a long time. What 
we came up
with is a seminar/plenum on Italian cultural centres 
(networking, problems
etc) and a speech of  a young Italian researcher who will 
publish a book on
Italian cultural centres in autumn. She will also be present at 
the
Amsterdam Summer Academy (Art Factories) and Pekka (who will 
also be there)
will try to talk to her then.

The internal/PD topic would be setting up a future Buenaventura 
and we
thought of small intense working groups for different topics 
(publicity, bar
management, networking, etc > see programme, still to be 
specified) to
discuss different ways and choices in a cultural centre that is 
in a phase
of transition.

Which BV is, as they're thinking about moving space, changing 
scope and
adapting the organisational structure
This will end in a final presentation, where a dream 
Buenaventura /
archetype of a cultural centre will be presented.

The aim of the workshops should not only be to come up with new 
ideas for
BV, but also a chance for professionals of different 
disciplines to discuss
and compare their methods of work.
Therefore (I do hope it works) every workshop will have 2 
patrons, one from
BV, one from another TEH venue.
Probably to be decided upon in Berlin.

One thing we have to keep in mind is in how far this topic will 
interest the existing (old) members or how we can ensure that.
