The Faculty of Humanities, Norwegian University of Science and Technology (NTNU), invites scholars to apply for a Ph.D. fellowship and a Postdoctoral fellowship in research on the ethics of personalized medicine.

The positions are connected to the Research Group on the Ethos of Technology: http://www.ntnu.edu/reset. The project aims at moral scrutiny of the vision of personalized medicine (PM), focusing especially on how it is being developed in the Norwegian context. Our approach, that is to be further developed in this project, is to examine the ethos of PM as it emerges and is envisioned in a social and material context of medical practices. The ethos of a practice depends on the feasibility of its stated goals, as well as the nature of these aims, articulated and evaluated in the context and by the agents involved in the practice. To that effect, we seek to collaborate with practitioners in the fields of PM in Norway and establish the basis for informed, critical reflection on how visions of PM are being pursued in this context, and think about how they should develop.

The complete project proposal with research descriptions can be downloaded at http://www.ntnu.edu/reset/projects
