The School of Languages, Linguistics and Film is pleased to announce that we are able to offer following awards:
1 Queen Mary Research Studentship to cover tuition fees (home or overseas) and provides a maintenance grant at the London rate paid by the Research Councils.
1 Westfield Trust Research Studentship to cover tuition fees at the home rate and provide a maintenance grant at the London rate paid by the Research Councils.
1 Peggy Holmes Research Studentship (in French Studies) to cover tuition fees at the home rate and provide a maintenance grant at the London rate paid by the Research Councils. Preference may be given to candidates applying to research in one of the following areas: Contemporary women's writing in French; female-authored autobiographical/ autofictional projects and visual culture (including phototexts, film and art installation projects).
These awards, tenable for three years, are to be awarded by the summer of 2009 to our most highly qualified candidates (UK, EU or Overseas) applying to start a full-time PhD programme in September 2009. Subject to funding arrangements holders of research studentships in the School of Languages, Linguistics and Film will have the opportunity to teach up to a maximum of 4 hours per week in the second and third years of their study.
To be eligible, applicants should have (or expect to have at the end of 2008/09) an MA or equivalent qualification.
To be considered for Queen Mary funding, eligible candidates must apply for admission, with funding, by Monday 23rd March 2009. All required materials must be received in the Queen Mary Admissions Office by this date. However, it is strongly recommended that you apply well in advance of this deadline in order to receive full consideration for admission with funding. Eligible applicants who submit the required materials for a Queen Mary award will also be considered for Arts and Humanities Research Council awards.
