The School of Modern Languages and Cultures (SMLC) at the University of Leeds is delighted to announce the results of its AHRC Block Grant Partnership bid. Three AHRC studentships will be offered to UK/EU PhD applicants commencing their degree in SMLC in September/October 2009.

The studentships cover tuition fees (standard UK/EU rate) and (UK applicants only) maintenance. Please refer to the AHRC website www.ahrc.ac.uk/fundingopportunities/pages/bgp.aspx to find out more on what an AHRC studentship will provide, what the key terms and conditions of the awards are and how the awards are administered.

Applications for AHRC studentships for doctoral (PhD) study are invited in the following subject areas:

Asian Studies

Iberian and Latin American Language and Culture

Italian Language and Culture
