These appointments will be made for a 9 month fixed term period only, from September 2009 to June 2010. This is an ideal opportunity for native speakers of Italian who meet our post requirements and wish to spend a 9 month period working within the UK.
Some evening work is a requirement of this position.
Please note that the selection process for this post will take place on 28th/29th July 2009.

The main responsibilities of these posts will be to:
· Assist in the teaching of the Italian spoken language programme to 1st - 4th year undergraduate students;
· Teach key language skills e.g. grammar, reading comprehension and writing, which may include the teaching of interpreting and/or translation, assessing student progress and providing feedback to students, and setting and marking assignments with appropriate supervision;
* Manage own teaching activities and prioritise own workload with assistance from more senior team members when required.
4. PERSON SPECIFICATION
Essential:
· A relevant first-degree;
· Cultural awareness of contemporary Italy;
· Experience of working as part of a team in an academic environment (either in the capacity of a student or as a member of staff);
· Native or near native level of fluency/competence in Italian;
· Excellent spoken and written communication skills in Italian and English;
· Good time management skills and the ability to work to tight deadlines;
· Good teaching and presentation skills;
· IT literate with ability to access Internet sources in English and Italian and to use word processing, presentation and/or spreadsheet packages (e.g. Microsoft Office Suite).
Desirable criteria:
· A post-graduate qualification in teaching Italian as a foreign language;
· Experience of teaching Italian as a foreign language;
· Experience of teaching language skills using a communicative approach;
· Experience of assessing student performance and providing feedback to students;
· Experience of teaching Italian-English interpreting and/or translation;
· Experience of using IT and/or web based tools to support language learning.
