Applications are invited for a fully-funded research studentship (a full award covers both the cost of tuition fees and a maintenance grant - for 2009/10 this is £13,290), as part of this major research project funded by the AHRC/ESRC Religion and Society programme. The studentship will begin on 1 December 2009 or as soon as possible thereafter. This project will investigate through innovative research methods the experience of late medieval worship, exploring the interrelationship of texts, spaces, rituals and objects. The student will work as part of an interdisciplinary research team and an international research group, led by Professor John Harper.

Candidates should have completed appropriate research training or have equivalent research experience, and might come from one or more of several disciplines (e.g. history, music, religious studies, social anthropology, or interdisciplinary medieval studies). The research project is based in Bangor but involves partnership with Salisbury Cathedral and St Fagans National History Museum of Wales.
