Short description The project of Eco-school is realized since 1999, when was first proposed by U.S. Peace Corps volunteer. The project is a part of ongoing activities of Bakhmat. As environmental education receives little attention in formal educational system, and provides few opportunities for practical implication and activities, project of Bakhmat in this field has received a lot of attention from schoolchildren. The goal of the project is to educate young people of Artemovsk on environmental issues and raise their environmental awareness. Additionally, the project aims to develop opportunities for extra-curricular activities of school children, involve them in volunteer work and environmental actions.

2. Paraskoveyevka boarding school, Artemovsk, Ukraina - EVS

Project title: Paraskoveyevka boarding school
Location: Artemovsk, Ukraina

Short description The boarding school for mentally disabled children is located in Paraskoveyevka village, 5 kilometers away from Artemovsk. There are about 150 children in the boarding school aged 7-16 years old, among them 15 orphans. Children stay at the boarding school during the whole year and have a special educational program which is focused on professional education in handicrafts, specifically agricultural, carpenter and seamstress. Most of the children are coming from rural areas and also from socially disadvantaged background: families with alcohol problems, children from the street. The goal of the project is to improve the social care at the boarding school by providing interactive activities with intercultural components, sport activities etc...
