The Faculty of Arts & Philosophy invites applications for the part-time position (20%) of professor in the rank of Lecturer in the Department of Literature, taking effect on October 1, 2011, for a period of three years. Responsibilities will include academic teaching (in Dutch), research and service in the field of teacher training (Latin and Greek)
Candidates Profile
- on the day of application, candidates are required to hold a doctors degree with a doctoral thesis in Latin and/or Greek Linguistics and/or Literature or equivalent thereof;
- candidates are required to have research experience in a field of expertise relevant for the position, as is evident from contributions to international conferences and recent publications in international peer reviewed journals and/or books.
- candidates are required to possess the necessary didactic, organizational and communicative skills for teaching in an academic context, supervising the practical training of teachers of Latin and/or Greek, and providing scholarly service to the field;
- candidates are required to have extensive experience in the field of teaching methodology and secondary teacher training;
- having experience in international mobility, amongst others through participation in research programs at research institutions not linked to the university where the highest degree was obtained, is recommended;
Candidates are requested to submit an outline (max. 1500 words) explaining their views on research, teaching and service in relation to this vacancy, and the required transcripts (copies of degrees).
Selection procedure:
1. candidates will be short-listed on the basis of their curriculum vitae, bibliography, and the outline;
2. short-listed applicants will be invited for an interview and required to present a micro-class, on the basis of which the final selection will be made.
- candidates are required to show their willingness to learn Dutch (insofar as they do not speak this language on the day of application).
This part-time (20%) position is an appointment for a clearly defined, limited and renewable period of time.
