The GCSC’s academic framework reflects a pluralistic understanding of the study of culture.

The various approaches – synchronic and historical, interpretative and empirical, contextualising and systematic – are no seen as being mutually exclusive, but are natural allies. “The study of culture” thus does not refer to a particular theoretical approach.
