Two posts of Doctoral Research Fellow (SKO 1017) are vacant at the Department of philosophy, classics, history of art and ideas at the University of Oslo (UiO).
Successful candidates must participate in the Faculty of Humanities' research education program (cf. regulations and supplementary provisions for the Facultys research education) and must also engage in the designated research activities on a 100 percent basis.
The persons appointed will be enrolled in the Facultys organized research training. The academic study terminates in a doctoral thesis to be defended at the Faculty, leading to a PhD-degree.
The candidates will be expected to have their residence and work place in Oslo, and to be active members of the philosophical community in Oslo.
There is an agreement between the University of St. Andrews and the University of Oslo for a joint phd degree (double badged), and successful candidates can apply for this.
The posts are available for a period of three years starting Autumn 2014, or as soon as possible thereafter. Currently, PhD fellows who successfully submit their thesis within the three years period, are granted an additional fellowship year.
Qualifications
A Master degree or equivalent in an area relevant to the topic of the doctoral dissertation.
Personal suitability and motivation for the position
Preference may be given to applicants working in areas in which the Department has particular research strengths, including the History of Philosophy (especially Ancient and Early Modern), the areas associated with the Centre for the Study of Mind in Nature (CSMN), and the Philosophies of Logic and Mathematics.
