The Centre for Latin American Research and Documentation (CEDLA) of the Faculty of Humanities is an interdisciplinary research centre focused on social transformation in Latin America. The staff comprises of six permanent researchers and two special professorship chairs and currently a group of eleven PhD students. Under the current research program ‘Reshaping Society and the Commons in Latin America’ this team carries out a large range of projects addressing social, economic, cultural, political and environmental changes in the region. CEDLA is part of the Amsterdam School for Regional, Transnational and European Studies (ARTES), one of the six research schools, under the aegis of the Amsterdam Institute for Humanities Research (AIHR) at the University of Amsterdam. The current vacancy is part of the NWO-funded Belmont Forum Programme ‘Amazonian Governance to Enable Transformations to Sustainability’ (AGENTS), led by Dr Fabio de Castro. AGENTS will conceptualize, assess, map, and quantify the role of non-state actors (individual and collective) to the use, management, and conservation of forests and ecosystems in selected areas across Brazil, Peru, and Bolivia. The project consortium encompasses partners from Brazil, USA, The Netherlands and Sweden, combining social and forestry science.
