The School of Education at Nottingham is a leading centre for research in education, with a broad commitment to improving and investigating social justice and equality in education, and particular strengths in: higher and lifelong education, the arts and education, technology and culture in learning, international and comparative education and development, mathematics education, special needs and counselling, teacher education and teacher development, educational leadership, and language and literacy education.

Doctoral studentships are available for students whose research interests are in these main areas of activity. A research studentship at Nottingham will allow you to work closely with international experts in their field and be part of a dynamic research community of staff and students.

In 2009, we will have up to 6 full-time studentships available: 2 funded by the ESRC and 4 by the School and University. The studentships are for up to four years and cover home/EU fees and a subsistence grant. To be eligible for the 2 ESRC awards, due to funding restrictions, you must be a citizen of the EU. For all the awards, you need to have at least an upper second class honours degree in a relevant subject.
