SALTO Cultural Diversity is currently accepting applications for an intern to assist with the concept of Identity, and its role and importance within international youth projects in Europe.

This placement is only open to residents of European Programme countries: Austria, Belgium, Bulgaria, Croatia, Cyprus, Czech, Denmark, Estonia, Finland, France, Germany, Greece, Hungary, Ireland, Italy, Latvia, Lithuania, Luxembourg, Macedonia, Malta, Netherlands, Poland, Portugal, Romania, Slovakia, Slovenia, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, United Kingdom.

This will be a long term project, linking researchers and youth leaders, working together with an author, researching content, editing final publications etc.

The SALTO Cultural Diversity Resource Centre is looking to develop the concept of identity in a more concrete way. We acknowledged its primary importance in our work and would like to provide more support and resources that are useful for the grass roots youth work.

It is hoped to link to one or more projects being delivered by different National Agencies next year, in order to connect the reality with the research, and to use live feedback and contribution to the creation of a resource around the topic of Identity.

Expected outcomes:

* To empower international youth leaders to raise awareness and be more competent in dealing with cultural diversity issues, both on the grass roots every day level and within international projects.

* To support youth work by providing materials and tools to deal with hard issues.

This 6 month internship would give the opportunity to work on an international level, directly under contract to the European Commission. There would be an opportunity to gain experience within the British Council, as a worldwide cultural organisation, and to understand from the inside how the SALTO Resource Centres and their associated agencies link. The results of the intern's project will impact directly on a European-wide audience, and with a variety of international insitutions and organisations.
