We are seeking native speakers of English,Italian and French, to teach for one to three months at ILC Chachapoyas, in a remote Andean town close to many
pre-Inca archaeological ruins, and the third highest waterfall in the
world. We don't require a TEFL qualification, although teaching
experience is useful. If you can offer a second European language,
all the better!
International Language Center (ILC) is a small language school in the
untouristed northern Andes region of Amazonas, in Perú. We teach
foreign languages , to local people, in a region where not many speak any English.
We have around 90 students, and monthly semesters. We can help with
arrenging accommodation, advice about further travel in Perú and
southern Ecuador, and we can also offer spanish lessons to teachers.
You would be teaching basic level to small groups (maximum
class size 12), using communicative interactive methods, and our
comprehensive language materials. You would teach 3-5 hours per
day, 18 days per month, for a minimum of one month, and a maximum of
three months. We offer groups at all language fluency levels, of
adults, teenagers or of children, as preferred. Most of our teaching
takes place between 4pm and 10pm in the evenings, although you can
also tutor smaller weekend classes if necessary. 1-4 positions
available, year round.
It's possible to find a good job in Machu Picchu, with a TESOL
qualification, but bear in mind that this is a region which receives
3000 tourists per day, where Amazonas has around 20 per month. If you
worked in the north, with ILC, you would have a totally different
experience of Peru, than working in a tourist center. And of course,
still have time to travel, and explore the incan and pre incan ruins
(in this region alone, you can explore chachapoyan, chavin, sipan,
moche and sican cultures).
